About Strandveld Museum
Strandveld Museum is quite the outing. It was the original house of the Headman of Dyer Island when he came to the mainland. The privately owned museum hosts a collection of original furniture of the Headman over the years, as well as relics from the Birkenhead shipwreck. A little known fact is that when the big storms hit this coastline, the museum is battered and has so has to be restored - a common topic discussed by the locals.
